Written By: Peter Nunan
Discover Australia's largest World War II survivor and the final of more than twoo hundred River class and variant frigate built by the Allies during that conflict.
The HMAS Diamantina was manufactured in a small Queensland city in a long gone shipyard. She was crewed over her long live by thousands of men from all over Australia based for most of her second commission in Western Australia and operating in the Indian, Pacific and Southern Oceans. The HMAS Diamantina also visited Hong Kong and The Gulf. Diamantina embodies much of the Navy's story later in the latter part of the twentieth century.
